Ax Les Thermes

Ax Les Thermes Ski Map

Ax-les-Thermes is tucked deep in the Ariège region of the French Pyrenees and seen by many as one of France’s most charming ski destinations. A destination where scenic mountain slopes, steamy natural hot springs and a relaxed Pyrenean ambience come together to create a uniquely calming winter escape.

The piste map of Ax-les-Thermes may not hit the size of Europe’s mega-resorts, Ax 3 Domaines offers something wonderfully different. Easily accessible, friendly, and an authentic mountain experience with excellent skiing for all levels.

With around 80 kilometres of piste to explore, heights ranging from approximately 1,380 – 2246 metres, a good variety of green, blue, red and even the odd black run provides something for everyone.

Ax Les Thermes Ski Area / Ax 3 Domaines Ski Areas

The Ax 3 Domaines piste map sits above the town and accessible via a modern gondola taking visitors from the valley to the slopes. The ski area is divided into three linked sectors, each offering its own character:

Beginner friendly Bonascre. The lower area of the Ax 3 Domaines resort is ideal for families, first-timers and those wanting more gentle terrain. Bonascre is full of wide, tree-lined runs and has a dedicated beginners’ zone with magic carpets and easy pistes. A great place to learn or warm up before heading higher. Because Bonascre is the lower-altitude sector (about 1,400 m) of Ax 3 Domaines, it’s well-suited to ski-in ski-out style stays within the Ax-les-Thermes piste map.

Intermediate level Saquet. Located at the heart of the resort offering open pistes, several red runs and beautiful viewpoints across the Pyrenees. Home to the snow park too, making it a popular spot for snowboarders and freestyle riders. Ideal for mixed abilities.

Advanced area in Campels. Although Saquet has plenty of red and the odd black run, Campels provides just as much too. Challenging skiing and great snow conditions, the Campels area provides just this. With steeper red and black runs and wide-open off-piste areas when conditions are right, it attracts more advanced skiers. On clear days, Campels offers some of the best panoramic views in the entire region.

Truly unique, Ax-les-Thermes is more than a ski resort — it’s a historic spa town. Famous for its naturally heated thermal springs, the town has been welcoming wellness travellers for hundreds of years. You can relax in thermal baths, soak in mineral-rich waters, or explore the town’s wellness centres.
