French Pyrenees Ski Resorts

The French Pyrenees, located in the South West of France sandwiched between Spain and surrounding the minute mountain country of Andorra provides a variety of ski locations to explore outside of the infamous Alps.

In total in the French Pyreness ski resorts and regions you can expect to explore around 1,000km of slope with plenty of varied resorts and well over 300 lifts, many of which modern, fast and reliable.

Largest French Pyrenees Ski Resorts

The largest ski resorts in the French Pyrenees is the Saint-Lary piste, which provides over 100km of piste and over 20 ski lifts. Grand Tourmalet is a close second with a similar piste area to explore of around 100km however with more lifts than Saint-Lary with 30. The third largest French Pyrenees ski resort is Ax-les-Thermes with approximately 80km of piste and just shy of 20 ski lifts.

Highest French Pyrenees Ski Resort

The Pyrenees in general can be exposed to warmer temperatures due to it’s location. However, height makes snow definitely more accessible with typically colder temperatures. Although not a given. The highest resorts in the French Pyrenees are similar in ranges, with Piau-Engaly elevations ranging from approximately 1,700-2500m. Saint-Lary similarly ranging from 1500m-2500m and Grand Tourmalet with a slightly lower based at 1250-2500m.
