Its proximity to New York City makes it one of the easiest ski resort for urban residents in the USA. Many visitors opt to take the Metro-North ski train to Patterson with a connecting shuttle to the resort.

Accommodation in Thunder Ridge
The Thunder Ridge ski area doesn’t have on-mountain accommodation. Most visitors stay in nearby towns and drive or take a short ride to the slopes. Thunder Ridge does not have ski-in ski-out hotels or slope side hotels at the base. Being a smaller, community-oriented ski hill focused on day trips and local visitors.
Furthermore, guests typically opt to stay in nearby towns such as Patterson, Brewster, Pawling, Danbury, or Bethel and commute the 10–25 minutes to the ski area.
