Andorra ski resorts and the Andorra skiing focuses around 2 key areas, the Grandvalira ski area and the Vallnord ski area. The Grandvalira area is much larger, one of the largest in Europe. With a huge variety of piste levels for all abilities, children’s activities, snow parks and even World Cup slopes. Combined make skiing in Andorra a fantastic skiing and snowboarding option for many.
Vallnord is a much smaller area than Grandvalira, containing Pal Arinsal and La Massana. Here you’ll find 63 kilometres of marked runs serviced by 30 lifts. Vallnord Pal-Arinsal has a nice variety of slopes for all abilities, but focus is very much on families, beginners, and those developing their skills.
Easiest access to Andorra via airports are Barcelona (BCN) or Toulouse (TLS). Although you can access via Lleida–Alguaire Airport too, albeit a much smaller airport than the other two.

The Andorra ski season runs from around December to April. Early season, around December time of course is great for exploring the slopes around the Christmas and New Year period and snowmaking infrastructure ensure reliable coverage if for a lack of natural snowfall. However, holiday periods can increase the number of skiers on the slopes.
Peak season typically runs from around January to February, and is somewhat extended into early March now too. It’s generally the coldest months, ensuring increased likelihood of natural snow and high quality snow. School holidays in February significantly increased quantity of skiers on the mountain. Best to avoid those times. However, these months are typically busier anyway.
Spring exploring, which is becoming more popular. Around March to April time, the days become longer and temperatures increased. Which in the Pyrenees can be very pleasant. Snow has built up so good, solid bases are formed. Good snow conditions can be had, particularly if sudden cold snaps and winter storms occur. This time of year in the Andorra ski season calendar can be ideal for families with younger children too – because of the uptick in temperatures and longer days.
The Pyrenees have a relatively high altitude at over 1,800m with the highest ski slops over 2,500m. Snow is fairly reliable all season and you do get some great sunshine, with the mountains sitting in the North East of Spain. You also get some great snowfall around December and January, when the weather tends to be coldest at just beneath 0°C. The Andorran ski pistes also have good covering off snowmaking machines, topping up if there’s any sporadic snowfall. Warmer weather in Andorra can found later in the season around March, where you can easily expect to see late single digits temperatures or even low teens.
