Only a few shorts weeks ago snow was few and far between in many resorts across Europe. With warmer then usual temperatures skiers and snowboarders were left with snowless slopes and wider concerns for the state of the European mountains.
Fast forward 4-6 weeks and snow did fall, particularly around France. Now with sub zero temperatures remaining a relative constant the packed piste snow remains, groomed and relatively well kept around Europe. The colder conditions also allow for snow cannons to be switched on adding to the conditions.
With larger dumps of snow coming earlier in the month of January additional snowfall is now required, with off piste conditions worsening and patches of grass, rocks and vegetation visible.
Nevertheless, there is snow predicted towards the end of the week but mainly for the Austrian alps and Germany. Unfortunately not much on the immediate horizon for much of France and Italy. However, check out the resorts expecting some immediate snow on our Austrian ski maps page and German ski maps page.
